After a downturn, Tata’s fortunes were restored through a lucrative contract for Napier’s expedition to Abyssinia in 1868.In 1870, with a capital of Rs. 21,000, Tata founded a trading company.

He transformed a bankrupt oil mill in Chinchpokli into a profitable cotton mill, Alexandra Mill, which he sold two years later. In 1874, he established another cotton mill in Nagpur, named Empress Mill.Tata aspired to achieve four significant goals: establishing an iron and steel company, creating a unique hotel, founding a world-class educational institution, and constructing a hydroelectric plant.

His vision materialized in 1903 with the opening of the Taj Mahal Hotel in Colaba, which was the first hotel in British India to have electricity.

Role and Responsibility

  • Support the onboarding process for new hires by collecting necessary documents, conducting background verifications, and updating HR systems
  • Create job descriptions, coordinate interviews, and schedule candidates
  • Implement processes and initiatives to foster a positive and engaging work culture
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employee queries related to HR policies, benefits, and other matters
  • Assist with the offboarding process to ensure a smooth transition for exiting employees
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records in HR systems
  • Generate status reports and dashboards as required
  • Support vendor management activities, including maintaining agreements and managing invoices
  • Gain hands-on experience in various HR functions such as onboarding, employee relations, and data management
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to learn about different HR processes
  • Develop strong interpersonal and communication skills
